My Life. My Work.
Most of my work has focused on subjects I'm passionate about and interested in.
For instance, writing parenting articles for Fatherly was like taking the best parenting class on the planet. As my wife and I raise our four children (two biological sons and two adopted daughters between the ages of 6 and 17), we have many questions about how to make this wonderfully chaotic life work.
Fortunately enough, I've had the opportunity to ask parenting experts many of those questions and share the answers with a broad audience.
That's the thing about parenting. No matter who we are, we all face similar challenges, and we're also experiencing the same everyday joys. It's been fun interviewing parents who can seem larger than life, but in fact, have the same down-to-earth parenting experiences we all share.
Like my conversation with Steph Curry about reading to his kids at night, sharing a bit about how James Beard award-winning pitmaster Rodney Scott came to enjoy a grilled salad that's now a family favorite, and exploring how New York Times best-selling author Shaka Senghor works to model vulnerability for his sons.
And when I'm not writing? You're likely to find me trying to achieve the high BBQ standards I learned when I got my Kansas City BBQ Society judge certification, supporting one of my kids at their latest concert or game, tuning into a compelling sporting event that I'll undoubtedly have an opinion about, telling the corniest of dad jokes, or enjoying a rare quiet moment with my wife.
